Video Wars: “Jesus is a Friend of Mine” by Sonseed

September 25, 2008

Watching this reminds me of the shortest verse in the Bible.  “Jesus wept.”  If the intent of this video was to drive to your knees to pray to God for mercy, well…success.

The coolest Lego model you will ever see

September 21, 2008

This is the coolest Lego display ever. I can’t imagine how many pieces it required. Check out the first photo with the man standing next to the aircraft carrier to get a sense of its size. Very impressive.

Cops crack the living (explitive) out of a DNC protester

August 28, 2008

Crazy video footage of the police in Denver at the Democratic National Convention. Some cop in riot gear jacks this little lady right to ground with a baton. Later, that same woman seems to be describing what just happened, when she’s snatched away by what appears to be the same cop that hit her earlier. Free speech and right to assembly heard whimpering.

“Evil is Alive and Well” by Jakob Dylan

August 23, 2008

Jakob Dylan, frontman for The Wallflowers, recently released a solo album he recorded with Rick Rubin working as producer.  The album, Seeing Things, is a pretty stark affair, almost solely acoustic guitar.  Check out the animated video to Evil is Alive and Well, a kind of creepy and interesting short.

New Geico commercial featuring Mrs. Butterworth makes me crave pancakes and whatever it is Geico sells.

August 21, 2008

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:  Geico has the best commercials.  I’ll buy their products without even hesitating.  It’s weight loss products, right?

Stephen King’s “The Talisman”

August 19, 2008

This is a demo film by director Mathieu Ratthe in an attempt to secure the rights to make Stephen King’s “The Talisman” into a feature film.  Ratthe explains below:

“The Talisman – “DEMO SCENE” is based on a novel by Stephen King and Peter Straub.

My main objective for creating this piece is to demonstrate my directing ability and my vision to the producers who own the rights to the story: STEVEN SPIELBERG & KATHLEEN KENNEDY.

Among the key players who lent their support to this project are Cameron Bright (X-Men: The Last Stand, Birth) who starred in the leading role, the Montreal-based company Buzz Image (300; The Aviator) who created the visual effects. The scene was shot in two days.

August 17, 2008

Comedian Tom Mabe keeps a tape recorder near his home phone and records his interactions with telemarketers.  Check out this audio clip where he turns a sales call into a murder investigation.

“The Shining” done with robots

August 4, 2008

The Shining scared the crap out of me as a child.  I haven’t been able to spend a winter in a secluded, boarded up hotel for an entire winter since…….

And……the original scene.
